This week's events previews

Himalaya Film & Cultural Festival, London It's common knowledge that the Himalaya is made up of some of the highest points on Earth, but the lives of its people remain a mystery to most of us, despite the fact that the UK is home to one of the largest Himalayan diaspora communities outside of south Asia. This festival aims to create a platform for Himalayan artists, with workshops, live music and an exhibition running alongside a film programme which includes Eric Valli's Himalaya. Various venues, to 12 Feb, himalayafest.org.uk Daniel Masoliver Faster Than Sound, Aldeburgh Subtitled An English Journey Re-Imagined, this event is inspired by JB Priestley's 1930s travelogue English Journey, with the resulting mix of literature, film and music acting as a backdrop for the psychogeographical meanderings of author Iain Sinclair and graphic novelist Alan Moore. The pair have undertaken their own literary and physical journeys, beginning in Aldeburgh, and the event features a related collaboration with song collector Shirley Collins and composer Susan Stenger. Percussionist FM Einheit adds to the mix alongside artist Graham Dolphin. Hoffman Building, Snape, Sat, aldeburgh.co.uk Iain Aitch Wheel Of Death, Glasgow If crossing the road before the little man flashes green is your idea of living life on the edge, then you're unlikely to ever have ridden a motorbike in circles around a 20ft-high vertical wooden wall. For the Ken Fox Troupe, however, this is literally child's play; the youngest Fox boy, Alex, is riding, yet still only 15. Inspired by these thrill-seekers, visual artist Stephen Skrynka set out to learn to ride the Wall Of Death for himself. In a multimedia performance, his new touring installation, which provides an insight into the life of a dare-devil show family and the emotional response their show generates, is combined with a thrilling run of the death-defying spectacle itself.
