Aberdeen awards data and desktop deal

The five year deal, announced on 18 October 2010, will be delivered from Atos' offices in Aberdeen and Livingston. It is the firm's first contract with a local authority in Scotland. Aberdeen tendered for the work in March, when it envisaged that it could cost up to £12m. Paul Fleming, head of customer service and performance at the council, said: "This project will provide greater accessibility and a better service to users of council IT systems. "It is key to the forthcoming staff relocation to the new Marischal College corporate headquarters, and supports the council's strategy to create a more flexible and mobile workforce." The council has yet to award a separate contract for customer contact and communication services, which could be worth £900,000.
