Roma take over at top of Serie A after Atalanta win

Roma snatched top spot in Serie A from Internazionale this afternoon when they beat Atalanta 2-1 at Stadio Olimpico. Inter's draw at Fiorentina last night presented Claudio Ranieri's team with an opportunity to bolster their surprise title campaign by taking over at the top. Mirko Vucinic's and Marco Cassetti's first-half goals put Roma on 68 points, one more than Inter, whose domestic form has faltered while they have advanced impressively into the Champions League semi-finals. Third-placed Milan's title hopes also suffered a severe blow after they fell four points off the top with five games remaining despite recovering from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 at home with Catania thanks to Marco Borriello's double. Palermo, in fourth, improved their chances of claiming the final Champions League place when they beat Chievo Verona 3-1 at home. Fabrizio Miccoli scored twice.
