Stravinsky: Complete music for violin and piano

The violinist Samuel Dushkin, Stravinsky's collaborator, wrote that when arranging some of his more popular pieces for violin and piano the composer seemed "to go back to the essence of the music and rewrite or recreate the music in the spirit of the new instrument". And so Pulcinella , The Nightingale , The Firebird and Petrushka take on fresher, lighter, more subtle colours and timbres, all exquisitely revealed in this masterly recording from the celebrated composer and pianist Thomas Adès and his long-time collaborator, the fine violinist Anthony Marwood.
