Ronan Keating gets Magic radio show
Ronan Keating is to present a weekly Sunday afternoon show on London radio station, Magic 105.4. The Boyzone star has previously been a guest DJ on the Bauer Media station, and joins a stable of presenters that includes Neil Fox, Gary Vincent and Martin Collins. Keating's show, described as a mixture of "celebrity interviews and great music chosen by Ronan", will air between 2pm and 4pm from Sunday. It will dovetail with Kim Wilde's Sunday morning show, Secret Songs, which runs from 10am until 2pm. His arrival means Danny Pietroni's show, which previously aired between 2pm and 7pm, is cut by two hours and will go out between 4pm and 7pm. Keating said: "Magic 105.4 has always been a big supporter of my music and we have built a great working relationship over the years." The singer has also presented the MTV Europe Music Awards and coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest. He co-hosted ITV1's Celebrating The Carpenters, with Amanda Holden, last year. Steve Parkinson, the managing director of Magic 105.4, said: "Feedback from Magic 105.4 listeners tells us that Ronan is incredibly popular as both a personality and a singer-songwriter. We are delighted to reveal Ronan as our latest presenter who joins Kim Wilde on Sundays, creating something new and unique for the weekend." Magic is the number one station in terms of listeners in the commercial London radio market, with an average weekly reach of just over 2 million listeners . But its share of the audience slipped back one percentage point in the latest official Rajar figures for the third quarter of this year, to 5.5%. • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
