Lights out for Jonathan Creek

Just how bad are things at the BBC these days? The Daily Mirror says Jonathan Creek producers came up with a novel way of saving money – by filming in the dark. Star Alan Davies let slip that for one central scene in the Easter special, "they couldn't afford to decorate the set – the budget didn't stretch to providing all the props and furniture necessary for it." As if that wasn't enough, Davies has valiantly taken a pay cut: "I resisted," he said, "but it was that or put 75 crew out of work."
