Kasabian to headline V 2010

Kasabian are to headline their first summer festival, joining Kings of Leon on top of the bill for V 2010. Other confirmed acts include Florence and the Machine, the Kooks, Goldfrapp, Pet Shop Boys and Cheryl Cole, marking the pop singer's first solo festival appearance. "We feel it's the right time for us to headline a festival," Kasabian said. "We've been playing so many festivals for so long, years and years." Kasabian last played V in 2007, opening for Foo Fighters and the Killers. Kings of Leon previously headlined the festival in 2008. The V festival takes place over two days, with the same bands playing two different sites – in Chelmsford and Staffordshire. Last year, Oasis missed their Chelmsford appearance and split up just days later. Cheryl Cole previously appeared at V as a member of Girls Aloud. The 26-year-old recently separated from her husband, footballer Ashley Cole. While acts including Sugababes, Mika and Pixie Lott will also perform, rock still dominates the top of the V festival bill. This year's V happens between 21 and 22 August. Other confirmed acts include Stereophonics, Editors, Faithless, Madness, Prodigy, Passion Pit, the Charlatans, La Roux and Paolo Nutini.
