Manchester City's hopes of Mathieu Flamini loan signing fade

Manchester City's hopes of signing Mathieu Flamini have suffered a setback after the former Arsenal player indicated he was keen to remain in Serie A. City, however, intend to speak to Milan in the next few days and their manager, Roberto Mancini, said he hoped it was still "possible" to arrange a loan deal. Mancini would also like to sign the Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini but is not optimistic of persuading the Italian side to let him go. "He is the best player at Juve and I don't think they will sell him. I think it's impossible that he will leave Juventus. He is the best defender in Italy right now and that [deal] is impossible." Vladimir Weiss, the 20-year-old fringe City midfielder, has signed for Bolton Wanderers on loan for the rest of the season.
