Newsquest takes big loss on sell-off
Newsquest has taken a massive hit by selling off a print facility in Bolton. It spent £17m nine years ago to set up the plant at Wingates industrial park. But it closed down the presses last year and has now sold the site to a pharmaceutical manufacturer M&A Pharmachem for just £2m. The plant was used by Newsquest, the British arm of the US publisher Gannett , to publish the Bolton News , Blackburn's Lancashire Telegraph , the Bury Times and 16 other titles.
