Leaders' debate: election bet of the day

With all eyes on tonight's televised leaders' debate there has been a lot of betting on who, according to post-debate polls from ICM or YouGov depending on the bookmaker, is deemed the winner. In the US, polling participants tend to follow their allegiance and I can see the same happening here. Cameron is favourite across the board with the best price being 6-4 from Ladbrokes, which looks a good bet. It will be interesting whether the debate moves the Tory majority price on the overall outcome markets. The best is currently 4-6 . As to betting on the size of the TV audience, a good reference point guide may be the BBC's Question Time with Nick Griffin, which averaged 8.35 million. The best bet is probably the 5-2 from PaddyPower that it will fall in the 8-11 million range. Mike Smithson blogs at politicalbetting.com
