Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink taken for CT scan after clash of heads

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Hull City's striker, was taken to hopsital for a CT scan tonight after being carried from the KC Stadium pitch unconscious on a stretcher following a clash of heads with Aston Villa's Richard Dunne. Play was halted for seven minutes early in the second half of Villa's 2-0 win after the Dutchman was knocked out by the collision. "Jan's gone to hospital for a CT scan," said Iain Dowie, the Hull manager. "We'll have to wait and see how he is but he wasn't looking in a good way. "He landed unconscious so we've got to be very careful. I'd be doubtful he'll play again this season."
