Democrat Eric Massa quits Congress

The Democratic party's problems keep mounting, with the news yesterday that another congressman will not seek re-election in November. Eric Massa, a member from New York, cited a cancer scare and rejected allegations on blog sites that it was because he had harassed a male staffer. He is the 15th Democrat not seeking re-election to Congress in the mid-terms. In another setback, Democrat congressman Charlie Rangel stood down as chairman of a key committee. He was reprimanded last week for accepting corporate-sponsored trips to the Caribbean.
