Sir Alex Ferguson questioned this week whether Chelsea had been allowed to select their own fixture list, commenting upon the "very easy" nature of their opponents, and a visit to Eastlands certainly represents the most difficult test yet for the champions. City beat them twice last season but the home side are badly undermined by an injury list that will deprive Roberto Mancini of all but one full-back. Chelsea, too, have players missing after the midweek defeat to Newcastle United but their injury issues are not so serious and they are bound to cause problems for an experimental City defence.
