Man charged with murder of woman on Reading riverside

A 19-year-old man has been charged with the murder of an 18-year-old woman stabbed on a footpath in Reading. The body of A-level student Asha Muneer was found by a jogger next to the river Kennet at 8.30pm on Monday. Gulamyr Akhter, of Reading, is due to appear before magistrates in Slough . Muneer, a part-time shop assistant at Laura Ashley, is believed to have been walking home after working at the Brunel retail park when she was attacked near the Madejski stadium. A postmortem showed she died of ­multiple stab wounds.
