Ryder Cup preparations

Team USA are the first to have their official photo call at Celtic Manor on Tuesday morning. Someone, presumably their captain Cory Pavin, has ordered his players to wear these hideous pullovers for the occasion Photograph: Timothy A. Clary/AFP/Getty Images Some of the players don't seem too impressed. Hunter Mahan, Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk can't wait to get them off Photograph: Timothy A. Clary/AFP/Getty Images Happy now, Tiger? Apparently so Photograph: Gerry Penny/EPA Colin Montgomerie seems amused. Perhaps he's caught a glimpse of his adversaries and is thanking his lucky stars he's not American Photograph: Kieran Doherty/Reuters Monty's charges have brought a more conservative rack of clothing with them. Harlequins. Grey and charcoal. Lovely stuff Photograph: Scott Halleran/Getty Images Ian Poulter, having been denied the opportunity to dress like a twit, gets down to a bit of practise from a bunker at the 16th Photograph: Glyn Kirk/AFP/Getty Images Now here's a man with natural panache. It's Miguel Ángel Jiménez, of course. Look at him, casually puffing on a cigar as he clips his ball from a bunker during a practice round Photograph: Scott Halleran/Getty Images The Welsh red dragon sits proudly on the side of one the bags. Apparently there are three different courses here at Celtic Manor - the Ryder Cup will be played on the course formerly known as Wentwood Hills Photograph: Scott Halleran/Getty Images Europe's vice captain Sergio García doesn't look too pleased to be on a golf course on the outskirts of Newport Photograph: Scott Halleran/Getty Images Woods is out on the course as well now. He's been using a new putter today in a bid to revitalize his performance on the greens Photograph: Brian Snyder/Reuters A scenic view across the 13th green shows that even today, the fans are out in force to see these guys play. On the TV screen nearby, past encounters are being remembered Photograph: Timothy A. Clary/AFP/Getty Images The 17th green is a hive of European players. The putts are coming in from all angles, though it seems no-one has noticed the pin is actually about 20ft behind them Photograph: Eddie Keogh/Reuters
