Champions League: Ko Rnd 1, Leg 1

It's a nightmare start for Arsenal due to a howler from Lukasz Fabianski, who has come in for the injured Manuel Almunia. In the 11th minute, Varela has ample space down the right and slings in a low cross into the six yard box, which Fabianski goes down to claim with no one around him but somehow he manages to deflect the ball into his own net Photograph: Francisco Leong/AFP/Getty Images Photograph: Francisco Leong/guardian.co.uk Arsenal are a bit shell-shocked after going behind and take a good five minutes to spring into life. They force a couple of corners and in the 18th minute a well-worked corner brings dividends as Sol Campbell equalises. The corner comes in from the left which Thomas Vermaelen flicks on to Tomas Rosicky at the far post who heads the ball back across goal where Campbell is on hand to power a header into the net. Five minutes into the second half he is shepherding the ball back to Fabianski when he touches the ball just before the keeper picks it up. The referee awards an indirect free-kick which Porto take quickly and, as the Arsenal defence and Fabianski stand around bemused, Falcao steams in and strokes the ball into the empty net Photograph: Mike Hewitt/Getty Images Photograph: Mike Hewitt/guardian.co.uk And then celebrates Photograph: Miguel Riopa/AFP/Getty Images Meanwhile an extremely irate Arsène Wenger remonstrates with referee Martin Hansson about the decision Photograph: Mike Hewitt/Getty Images Photograph: Mike Hewitt/guardian.co.uk It's all too much for Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue who can't bear to watch anymore as Arsenal lose the match 2-1 Photograph: Francisco Leong/AFP/Getty Images Photograph: Francisco Leong/guardian.co.uk Meanwhile, in Munich, Bayern's Daniel van Buyten tries to control the ball after Fiorentina's Alberto Gilardino misses it Photograph: Tobias Hase/EPA Photograph: Tobias Hase/guardian.co.uk Fiorentina's Massimo Gobbi gets up close and personal with Arjen Robben Photograph: Dominic Ebenbichler/Reuters Photograph: Dominic Ebenbichler/guardian.co.uk Robben eventually manages to free himself from the clutches of Gobbi and on the stroke of half-time he calmly sends Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey the wrong way to give the home side the lead Photograph: Torsten Silz/AFP/Getty Images Photograph: Torsten Silz/guardian.co.uk Bayern's lead doesn't last long as five minutes late Fiorentina defender Per Kroldrup pops up to turn the ball home from close range at a corner and equalise for the Italian side Photograph: Sascha Schuermann/AFP/Getty Images Photograph: Sascha Schuermann/guardian.co.uk Fiorentina defender Lorenzo de Silvestri performs a perfect sliding tackle on Bayern Munich defender Diego Contento Photograph: Torsten Silz/AFP/Getty Images Photograph: Torsten Silz/guardian.co.uk This time it's De Silvestri who has to do the defending as Bayern's Franck Ribery attempts to control the ball Photograph: Lukas Barth/EPA In the 89th minute an unmarked Miroslav Klose popped up in the Fiorentina six yard box to head home the winning goal.
