Galatasaray give Everton chance to make profit on Lucas Neill

Galatasaray may give Everton a dilemma over whether to accept a transfer fee for Lucas Neill this month after reviving their interest in the Australia international. Neill was signed on a free transfer by David Moyes in September having been without a club following his departure from West Ham United, and has featured regularly in an Everton defence depleted by injury. The 31-year-old is under contract at Goodison Park until the end of the season and Everton, who are interested in the Sheffield United defender Matthew Kilgallon, would make a swift and unexpected profit, in the region of £800,000, should the Turkish club move for a player they tried to sign last summer. With Joseph Yobo away at the Africa Cup of Nations, however, Sylvain Distin injured and Phil Jagielka recovering from a ruptured cruciate, Moyes will face an awkward decision should a firm bid arrive. Neill's fellow Australian, the former Liverpool player Harry Kewell, plays for Galatasaray.
