Inception: the UK premiere … or was it all a dream?

These images come from the Inception premiere which, consistent with Christopher Nolan's vision for the movie, took place within a dream. This image shows an even grander conceit at work as, already within a dream, Ellen Page reminisces about another dream in which she was a pregnant teenager who spoke fluent smart arse. Photograph: STEFAN WERMUTH/REUTERS Photograph: STEFAN WERMUTH/guardian.co.uk Cillian Murphy enters the dreamscape and, from the corner of his eye, spots his cheekbones reflected in a mirror. He likes what he sees! Photograph: Dave M. Benett/Getty Images Photograph: Dave M. Benett/guardian.co.uk Peaches Geldof is a major star. In her dreams. Photograph: Dave M. Benett/Getty Images Photograph: Dave M. Benett/guardian.co.uk In this dreamspace, time often slows to a near halt and perspective shifts to give a 360-degree view of important events. This was an idea suggested by Guy Ritchie and heartily endorsed by all. Photograph: Dave M. Benett/Getty Images Photograph: Dave M. Benett/guardian.co.uk The dream may be real, but Leonardo DiCaprio is not. He is in fact 100% alabaster. Sadly, nobody's told his co-star Marion Cotillard. Photograph: Dave M. Benett/Getty Images Photograph: Dave M. Benett/guardian.co.uk DiCaprio and Cotillard pose for the cameras again, this time wearing their 'dream faces'. Photograph: Yui Mok/PA Photograph: Yui Mok/guardian.co.uk Sir Michael Caine has a dream. But it's too lewd to discuss here. Photograph: Ian Gavan/Getty Images Photograph: Ian Gavan/guardian.co.uk Danyl Johnson and Jamie Archer, yes them off of last year's X Factor, have sadly been consigned to the the dreamspace for all eternity. But that's alright. Photograph: Ian Gavan/Getty Images Photograph: Ian Gavan/guardian.co.uk Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley are in the dreamspace watching Michael Caine wrestle a giant pilchard. It's the most fun they've had in weeks. Photograph: Ian Gavan/Getty Images Photograph: Ian Gavan/guardian.co.uk From inside the TV newsman's earpiece: "Yes, that's 100% alabaster. Repeat: 100% alabaster. Though we suspect the eyebrows may have been made separately." Photograph: Jonathan Brady/EPA Photograph: JONATHAN BRADY/guardian.co.uk Ken Watanabe and his wife, Kaho, attend the premiere. As you can tell by their expressions they are not overly excited by the dreamscape. They've had it in Japan for years. One in which posing with intent to show off your thighs is, apparently, acceptable. Photograph: JONATHAN BRADY/EPA Photograph: JONATHAN BRADY/guardian.co.uk And … you're back in the room! Joseph Gordon-Levitt awakens and immediately snaps back into the smug smirk some of us know and even fewer of us love. Photograph: JONATHAN BRADY/EPA Photograph: JONATHAN BRADY/guardian.co.uk
