Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood stick with IPL after explosions
Five English players, including Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood, are expected to remain in India for the duration of their participation in the Indian Premier League, despite security concerns following bomb attacks at a Bangalore stadium. Two explosions at Chinnaswamy Stadium, an hour before yesterday's IPL match between Bangalore Royal Challengers and Mumbai Indians, injured 14 people and forced organisers to postpone the game. It went ahead in front of a packed crowd after panic had subsided. The England and Wales Cricket Board says that as far as it knows, none of the English players wishes to return home early. The ECB is monitoring the security situation in India. "We are always in discussion and conversation with the franchises, and security is one of the issues we are always talking about," said an ECB spokesperson. "The IPL has made it clear that players' security and safety is always of paramount concern."
