Leeds community shop meeting gathers interest
Organisers of a public meeting to discuss setting up a community-run shop in Leeds city centre have reported a 'fantastic response' to the idea so far. As reported on this blog , a group of individuals are concerned over the recent closure of local store Simpsons near Brewery Wharf and have floated the idea of launching a community-run shop similar to the Natural Food Store in Headingley. A public meeting will be held at the Adelphi on Wednesday, 8 September, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. You can register to attend the event over at this Eventbrite page . All welcome to attend. Rob Greenland, from The Social Business , who has helped to organise the meeting, said: "We've had 21 people sign up to come along to the meeting so far, which is a fantastic response. It'd be great if more people could come - whether they're interested in helping to open a shop in Dock Street, or the broader idea of a community-owned shop in Leeds City Centre." What do you think?
