Lorna Clarke appointed Radio 2 and 6 Music network manager
Former 1Xtra head of programmes Lorna Clarke has been appointed network manager for BBC Radio 2 and reprieved digital station, BBC 6 Music . Clarke, who has been director of the BBC's Electric Proms for four years, will oversee strategy, finance, commercial and creative development for both stations, reporting to the Radio 2 and 6 Music controller, Bob Shennan. It is a newly-created role, absorbing the responsibilities of former Radio 2 and 6 Music managing director Antony Bellekom , who left the corporation in March. The Electric Proms, which broadcasts on Radio 2, will now be overseen by the Radio 2 and 6 Music head of music, Jeff Smith. Clarke first joined the BBC in 1983 and has also been head of mainstream programmes for BBC Radio 1 and held a senior role at BBC Talent. • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
