Sony Radio Academy Awards: who should win?

It's the radio industry's biggest night of the year, the Sony Radio Academy Awards . The BBC's imperilled digital station 6 Music, commercial music station Absolute Radio, and Nick Ferrari of London talk broadcaster LBC all scored heavily in the nominations . But will they emerge on top tonight? A bagful of gold awards for 6 Music – its morning DJ Lauren Laverne is nominated twice – would be one in the eye for BBC director general Mark Thompson, who wants to close down the station . A bulging awards cabinet would also be reward for Absolute Radio, a year and a half after its new owners launched the station previously known as Virgin Radio. Ferrari, meanwhile, who is never short of anything to talk about, goes into tonight with a record five Sony nominations. Will he fare better than 6 Music's Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish, who were nominated four times last year but failed to win a single gold? Adam and Joe – currently on leave from 6 Music – are back again tonight with a single nod in the comedy category. Surely they will win this time around? You can find a full list of the nominations here . Who would be your national station of the year? TalkSport? Absolute Radio? Or BBC Radio 5 Live? And digital station of the year – Absolute Classic Rock, 5 Live Sports Extra, or a previous winner in this category, Planet Rock. A gong for Sports Extra would be an interesting one, rewarding a station that only broadcasts at certain times of the day. Maybe it's time to adjust our definition of "radio station". Who do you want to win – and who do you think will? And was there enough time for the academy to organise a farewell gong for the outgoing BBC Radio 4 controller, Mark Damazer ? And if you're not going, you can also listen to it live here and follow my tweets (reception permitting) from the floor here . Chris Evans, your host for the evening, is winging his way back to London from Italy for the gongs. "On plane @ Verona," he tweets . "Written a few opening words for tonight's Sonys. Reading me book now, Girl with Dragon Thingy-sleep, shower then showbiz."
