Mirror kills off Doctors prematurely

No one was more surprised than the BBC Daytime controller, Liam Keelan, when he opened his Daily Mirror this morning to read that Doctors, BBC daytime's soap from Birmingham, was in line for the axe, after Survivors . Nothing, he says, is further from the truth – although Survivors won't live to see a third series, Doctors is in rude health. "Doctors is the EastEnders of daytime," says Keelan, and the BBC strategy review now under consultation actually suggests … increasing investment in the area, rather than any more cuts.
