Notes from planning committee

Cardiff Council's planning committee met at City Hall today to discuss a number of new applications and some interesting proposals have been deferred for site visits. The application to build a new postgraduate research centre on the old Maindy siding site in Cathays was deferred for a site visit given the significant size of the development. This visit will also allow for residents to express their concerns. The proposal is to build on a 60,000 square metre site – which will be used by Cardiff University and employ between 800 and 1200 staff accommodating 260 parking spaces. Another application to demolish a disused public toilet in St Fagans Road, Fairwater, and replace it with a three-storey development with a ground floor cafe and two two-bedroom flats above, will also have a site visit. The current building has been disused since 1992. The application for a new turf pitch in Llandaff North was deferred for a site visit with worries about light pollution, anti-social behaviour and traffic problems being raised bu councillor Jacqui Hooper. Read all the planning applications in this document download here (Maindy, page 36; Fairwater, page 106; and Llandaff North page 243).
