How to Train Your Dragon

This is the solidest of bets for the Easter holidays: How To Train Your Dragon, available in 2D and 3D, based on the books by Cressida Cowell, is an entertaining and great-looking family movie from the DreamWorks stable. A nerdy Viking teenager unsexily named Hiccup, voiced by Jay Baruchel, is very much not living up to the macho standards set by his horn-helmeted, barrel-chested dad Stoick the Vast, voiced by Gerard Butler. All the Vikings in his clan have to fight dragons, and Hiccup is naturally hopeless at doing this: but could it be that he will astonish everyone with his unsuspected talent for taming the terrible fire-breathing beast? An enjoyable family movie, with some great flight sequences – and there's an interestingly realistic sense of the dangers involved in risking your neck for others.
