When in Rome
This Italian-themed romcom is not quite the most unspeakably-patronising-to-Italy film of all time. That prize belongs to the musical Nine, starring Daniel Day-Lewis. But it runs a very close second. Kristen Bell plays Beth, a blonde/bland party-planner smitten with love in the totally romantic city of Rome, Italy, where she is attending her sister's wedding, and falls for the best man, Nick (Josh Duhamel). But Nick appears (misleadingly) to be a cheater just like all the rest, and in a fit of despair, Beth steals some coins from the famous Fountain of Love – and this makes the people who threw those coins fall in love with her. With hilarious results! No. Not really. This film induces a catatonia of resentment and embarrassment.
