Chris Hughton reveals pride in leading Newcastle back to Premier League

Chris Hughton has revealed his pride in joining Joe Harvey, Arthur Cox and Kevin Keegan as managers who have led Newcastle United to promotion. Newcastle secured their return to Premier League yesterday following Nottingham Forest's goalless draw with Cardiff. They themselves then beat Sheffield United 2-1 at a jubilant St James' Park. "It feels great to join them [Harvey, Cox and Keegan], Hughton told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle. "I'm so proud and it's a proud moment for my family as well. "You're always aware of the fact that there have been a lot of people involved in this. I've worked very closely with Colin Calderwood all season, who has been brilliant for the club, as has [the goalkeeping coach] Paul Barron. They have to take a lot of the credit as well. "We've had difficult periods when we've not played so well, but we still won our games. We've had to really dig deep to find the spirit. We've kept the competition going all season. That is real testament to the team ethos here." Hughton has given his players a two-day break as a reward for their efforts.
