Group marketing director David Pemsel leaves ITV

ITV is on the hunt for a new group marketing director following the departure of David Pemsel after almost five years. Pemsel, who had reported to the outgoing managing director of brand and commercial Rupert Howell , found out last week that ITV's director of television, Peter Fincham, is to take over responsibility for marketing and research . Chad Wollen, director of research and insight, is also leaving ITV. The broadcaster is to recruit for both positions and it is understood that it wants to fill the group marketing director role with an external appointment. "ITV is an iconic brand and the challenge is to ensure that it is both powerful and relevant in an increasingly crowded multimedia and broadcasting landscape," said Fincham. "The changes also give us the opportunity to harness the strengths of our marketing and research teams, who will work together to help us develop strong programme brands." Pemsel joined ITV in October 2005 and was promoted to group marketing director in January 2007 . • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
