Abba World at Earls Court

You have now arrived at Abba World! Not that you would have guessed from the huge, colourful sign and themed wallpaper. Oh no Photograph: Marc Broussely/Getty Images Photograph: Marc Broussely/guardian.co.uk Jackets, cardigans and all sorts of paraphernalia that Anni-Frid and the band have had their paws all over Photograph: Marc Broussely/Getty Images Photograph: Marc Broussely/guardian.co.uk An outfit like this really shows you how much fashion has changed since the 1970s – Benny Andersson would never wear it now Photograph: Marc Broussely/Getty Images Photograph: Marc Broussely/guardian.co.uk The 1970s were inspired by the apparently limitless joys of orange and brown interior design. Mercifully, by the 1980s, that limit had been reached Photograph: Marc Broussely/Getty Images Photograph: Marc Broussely/guardian.co.uk Abba during the shoot for the Arrival album sleeve in 1976. Remarkably, though the band look as though they're standing in front of some imaginative wallpaper, Bjorn and co were posing with a real helicopter Photograph: ABBAWORLD Photograph: guardian.co.uk And here it is! A helicopter apparently smaller than a set of shelves Photograph: Marc Broussely/Getty Images Photograph: Marc Broussely/guardian.co.uk A hologram stage at Abba World in which you can perform 'next to' the band. If you can get this Agnetha lookalike off the stage, that is Photograph: Marc Broussely/Getty Images Photograph: Marc Broussely/guardian.co.uk As you might have gathered, Abba World has an awful lot of costumes. This one was from their shiny, medieval period Photograph: Marc Broussely/Getty Images Photograph: Marc Broussely/guardian.co.uk Wow! Cat-daubed mini dresses and flared trousers need to make a comeback. Now! Photograph: Bengt H Malmqvist/ABBAWORLD Photograph: Bengt H Malmqvist/guardian.co.uk Abba first attempted Eurovision in 1973 with Ring Ring, failing to make it through to the competiton. The following year, the quartet won the contest with Waterloo and they haven't looked back since Photograph: Marc Broussely/Getty Images Photograph: Marc Broussely/guardian.co.uk Images of Abba in the studio. This is where the magic (and also some serious TV watching, by the looks of things) happened Photograph: Marc Broussely Photograph: guardian.co.uk Apparently, Abba's dressing room was the inspiration for Tom Baker's look in Dr Who Photograph: Marc Broussely/Getty Images Photograph: Marc Broussely/guardian.co.uk These infamous platform boots may look silly now, but they made Björn Ulvaeus feel seven foot tall Photograph: Marc Broussely/Getty Images Photograph: Marc Broussely/guardian.co.uk
