Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson add Star class world title to Olympic gold

Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson, the Star class Olympic champions, added the world championship to their haul after the final race of the Star World Championship in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro. Only the Swiss team could have denied the British pair. But to do that Flavio Marazzi and Enrico de Maria, winners of the penultimate race in the series, had to come in the top two places and Percy and Simpson finish lower than ninth. In the event both boats came well down the field meaning that the British pair took gold and the Swiss had to settle for silver.
