Ban newspaper sex ads - Spanish premier

Spain's prime minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero , has called on the country's newspaper owners and editors to stop publishing sex adverts. He argues that the ads - pages of which appear even in the quality papers - foster trafficking and sexual exploitation. They are estimated to account for 60% of the total classifieds in the Spanish press and are said to be worth £40m in annual revenue. But publishers and editors counter that prostitution is not illegal in Spain so they are within their rights to run the ads. Source: FollowTheMedia
