GMG reveals executive pay

The Guardian editor-in-chief, Alan Rusbridger, took a voluntary pay cut of £34,000 in the 12 months to the end of March, according to financial results unveiled today by Guardian Media Group. Rusbridger received total remuneration of £411,000 in 2009/10, compared with £445,000 the previous year. It was announced last year that Rusbridger would take a pay cut for 2009/10 , a 12-month period in which GMG also introduced a company-wide pay freeze. GMG also said it would not pay financial performance bonuses for the previous financial year, to the end of March 2009. After a year without executive bonuses , some were paid in 2009/10, with outgoing GMG chief executive Carolyn McCall receiving £143,000, GMG Radio chief executive Stuart Taylor £90,000, and GNM managing director Tim Brooks £64,000. There was also a £233,000 payment to former GMG Radio chief executive John Myers, and £444,000 to Mark Dodson, outgoing head of GMG Regional. A long association between the Guardian and the Manchester Evening News was ended when GMG Regional was sold to Trinity Mirror in February . McCall, who joins EasyJet as chief executive next month, received a total pay and bonus package of £658,000, compared to £498,000 the previous year. Andrew Miller, GMG chief financial officer, takes over as interim chief executive on 1 July . Miller, who joined from Trader Media Group in November, was paid £170,000. Brooks received a total pay and bonus package of £330,000 compared to £256,000 in 2008/9. • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
