Beach Boy quashes rumours of Brian Wilson reunion
Mike Love, one of the three surviving Beach Boys, has quashed reports that he is to reunite with Brian Wilson for the band's 50th anniversary. "Nothing has been planned," he said in a statement, wishing Wilson "love and success" in his current projects. According to the band's website , "speculation continues to grow among fans and media as to reunion possibilities". Love told the Las Vegas Sun last week: "We're gearing up for the 50th anniversary. Brian Wilson, who has been working on some unfinished Gershwin music project, will rejoin us." However, Love appeared to reverse his position yesterday. "At this time, there are no plans for my cousin Brian to rejoin the [Beach Boys] tour," he said. "We have had some discussions of writing and possibly recording together, but nothing has been planned ... [We are] proud and honoured that the Beach Boys' music has endured these 50 years, but felt the need to clarify that there are no current 'reunion' tour plans." Love, Wilson and Al Jardine, the other surviving Beach Boy, have not performed together in more than a decade. Love still tours under the Beach Boys name and Wilson is working on new projects, including completing unfinished songs by George Gershwin for a forthcoming tribute album .
