Rox: Memoirs

Just when you thought retro-soul had surely had its day, up pops another contender. Label mate of Duffy and a Brit School graduate like Amy and Adele, 21-year-old Roxanne Tataei is of Jamaican and Iranian heritage. Unfortunately, her vocals are fairly unremarkable and her lyrics are the predictable offering of a self-described "break up and make up" album. Average it may be, but Rox still manages to deliver several credible pop-soul hits. Opener "No Going Back" is the most satisfying, suggesting it may pay to watch this space.
