Bookmarked: Leeds Lumiere Facebook group backs greening calls
The future of the site of the aborted Lumiere project in Wellington Street certainly seems to have sparked debate among Leeds folk. After posts last week and yesterday calling for green space either temporary or permanent, @victoriafinn on Twitter pointed out a Facebook group made up of residents from developments surrounding the Lumiere site. They've been campaigning for a temporary greening of the site for some time. The name of the group is Leeds residents demand temporary greening of Lumiere construction site . Administrator Sebastian Mysko writes: "This group is a simple forum for all the men, women, cats and dogs who'd like to see the abandoned Lumiere construction site temporarily greened. It's been just over two years since activity ended at the infamous site. I can still remember getting the invite to the launch party in the post... "...the view for most of us living around the area is of dirty sand, some pitiful looking weeds and now, what looks like fly-tipping. Not so nice for anyone who's either renting a room or indeed invested money in the area. "We thought by getting all our heads together, we could come up with some ways to improve the area in which we live and maybe change some council policies to make this neglected environment a better place."
