World Cup Daily: Slovakia send Italy packing as Japan have Danish for breakfast

Day 14, and a down-in-the-dumps and hoarse James Richardson is joined in the World Cup Daily pod by Barry Glendenning , Tom Lutz , and Josh Widdicombe to look back on a dramatic day in South Africa. World Champions Italy are on their way home after losing to Slovakia – a defeat which meant they finished below New Zealand in their group. Where did all go wrong? The most entertaining game of the day though was Japan's 3-1 win over Denmark. The Guardian's Tokyo correspondent Justin McCurry tells us how the result went down back home, and why the Blue Samurai are now a good bet for the semi-finals. Finally, Sid Lowe looks ahead to Spain's must-win game against Chile tomorrow night, and keeps his fingers crossed that Switzerland don't ruin it all. Tweet us if you're so inclined - we're back in 24 hours.
