Gabriella Cilmi: Ten

Aged 18, Cilmi is proof that you're never too young for reinvention: launched as a Winehouse-lite soulstress in 2008, here she transforms into a campy electro-pop diva with shades of Little Boots. A cynical bandwagon-jump? Probably, but one thankfully furnished with some alluring tunes, including the pulsing, Moroder-ish "Love Me Cos You Want To" and disco empowerment anthem "Hearts Don't Lie", where her throaty belter of a voice comes into its own. Good, plasticky fun, it's only spoilt by some unnecessary excursions into quivering balladry and jaunty piano-pop.
