DVD review: Up
Up starts with a perfect testament to Pixar's economy and sureness of touch as our lead character, Carl Fredericksen, and his childhood sweetheart live from childhood to old age in the first 10 minutes, also giving resonance to the subsequent plot, which gives the phrase "moving house" a whole new meaning. It's full of action and colour, as well as imagination, as befits the studio's first conceived in 3D as well as the first animation film to open Cannes. (The DVD is not 3D, but looks absolutely fine.) Pete Docter, a regular writer who also directed Monsters Inc, is the guiding hand for a typically imaginative, inventive film.
