World Cup Fans' Network: Germany v Australia

Germany Stephen Glennon, www.twitter.com/stephenglennon Germany are expected to stick with the line-up that defeated Bosnia in the final warm-up game. Despite Cacau and Gomez being impressive in training, this means Klose is likely to start. Whoever plays, they'll have a hard task coping with the physicality of the Australians. What our opponents lack in attacking flair (even with Cahill and Kewell passed fit), they make up for with experience, organisation and the possibility of a crunching tackle to shake up a team of talented but inexperienced youngsters. A draw would be a good result for Australia, and they'll know that stopping Mesut Ozil will be a large step towards achieving that. The Werder Bremen youngster has quickly become the pivot around which Germany's attacks rotate, and judging by his performance against Bosnia, he'll take some stopping. 2-0 to Germany, with Ozil's name in the headlines on Monday morning. Expected line-up (4-2-3-1) M Neuer; P Lahm, A Friedrich, P Mertesacker, H Badstuber; S Khedira, B Schweinsteiger; P Trochowski, M Ozil, L Podolski; M Klose. Australia Phil Hawkins, www.round-is-the-ball.blogspot.com For Australia, the spirit will be willing but the flesh weak, with Pim Verbeek desperate to recall Kewell and Emerton after injury. At their best they can remedy Australian weaknesses in midfield and attack, but they represent a major gamble. However, nothing can paper over the massive gaps in defence. Mark Schwarzer's motivation may be unquestioned – his parents emigrated from Germany in 1968, and he began his European adventure in Dresden – but he will be seriously tested with the lumbering Moore and Neill in front of him. The preferred XI are all graduates of the 2006 campaign, but experience can't compensate for slower legs. Vince Grella's midfield understudy Carl Valeri (aka "mini Vinnie") may appear, but if the starting line-up don't perform few options remain – Josh Kennedy has experience with six German clubs over nine seasons, but lacks penetration. 2-0 to Germany. Expected line-up (4-5-1) M Schwarzer; L Wilkshire, L Neill, C Moore, S Chipperfield; M Bresciano, J Culina, V Grella, B Emerton, T Cahill; H Kewell.
