Adam Lambert to tone down act for Malaysia concert

American Idol star Adam Lambert has agreed to tone down his act for a Kualar Lumpur concert at the request of Malaysian authorities. The singer, who is currently touring Asia, wrote on Twitter that he will make "minor adjustments" to his regular show when he performs later this week. Lambert's concert has come under attack by the opposition Pan Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), which claimed the show would promote "gay culture" in the predominantly Muslim country. PAS youth leader Nasrudin Hasan said: "Adam Lambert's shows … are outrageous, with lewd dancing and a gay performance that includes kissing male dancers, this is not good for people in our country." Homosexual activity remains illegal in Malaysia. The PAS is the country's second-largest political party, and with close to a million members forms a large part of a "rainbow opposition" led by the former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim. It has previously protested against appearances by Beyoncé, Rihanna and Gwen Stefani.
