TV ratings: Camping documentary scores over Danielle Lineker show

Danielle Lineker's BBC3 documentary about stepfamilies was beaten in the ratings by a BBC4 programme about the joys of camping last night, Tuesday 20 July. Danielle Lineker – My New Stepfamily, in which Gary Lineker's partner spoke about being stepmother to his four children and mum to her daughter, averaged 691,000 viewers and a 3% share of the audience between 9pm and 10pm, according to unofficial overnight figures. Britain Goes Camping, which examined how camping has become a quintessentially British pastime, attracted 929,000 viewers and a 4.1% share at the same time on BBC4. BBC3 took the lead at 10pm with a double EastEnders repeat watched by 824,000 viewers, a 4.4% share, between 10pm and 11pm. Another showing for Mike Leigh's Nuts in May averaged 475,000 and 2.8% at the same time on BBC4.
