Barcelona v Arsenal in the Champions League

After last week's 2-2 draw at the Emirates, Arsenal arrive in Barcelona needing to score at least once to sustain their Champions League ambitions. Arsenal's chances of qualification had, it seemed, been shattered as Barcelona rampaged to a 2-0 lead in the first leg thanks to a brace from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Here, Xavi goes down under a challenge from Abou Diaby Photograph: Carl Recine/Action Images Photograph: Carl Recine/guardian.co.uk Again, Xavi is in the thick of it, fending off Arsenal's Samir Nasri Photograph: Adam Davy/EMPICS Sport Photograph: Adam Davy/guardian.co.uk With 19 minutes gone, Arsenal make a swift counter-attack and Walcott feeds Niklas Bendtner on the edge of the box ... Bendtner's initial effort is smothered by the Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, but the Arsenal player reacts quickest to poke home the rebound Photograph: Lluis Gene/AFP/Getty Images Photograph: Lluis Gene/guardian.co.uk Bendtner looks ecstatic ... it wasn't the easiest of chances as Walcott played his pass behind Bendtner, but the Dane has scrambled it home and Arsenal now have the edge in this tie, leading 3-2 on aggregate Photograph: Lluis Gene/AFP/Getty Images Photograph: Lluis Gene/guardian.co.uk Devastation for Arsenal ... only two minutes later Lionel Messi fires in a stunning equaliser. Having seized a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area, he lashed it into the top corner, leaving Arsenal's goalkeeper Manuel Almunia helpless ... No points for guessing who the scorer was. Another dazzling run leads to another fine goal for Messi. Almunia had blocked Messi's first effort, but was instantly beaten with a nutmeg as the 22-year-old striker snapped up the rebound Photograph: Jasper Juinen/Getty Images Photograph: Jasper Juinen/guardian.co.uk Arsenal's players looks worn out. They've lost 4-1 on the night, 6-3 on aggregate, meaning it's Barcelona who'll go through to play Internazionale in the semi-finals Photograph: Darren Staples/Reuters Photograph: Darren Staples/guardian.co.uk
