Third man arrested in Siddiqi case

Police have arrested a third man in connection with the stabbing of 17-year-old Aamir Siddiqi this afternoon. A 36-year-old man was arrested in the Richmond Road area of Roath, Cardiff, at around 12.20pm on suspicion of murder and the attempt murder of Aamir's parents. Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Superintendent Stuart McKenzie said: "We continue to make significant progress in this investigation but despite this progress, and the third arrest, we are still very much appealing for information. "There are still people out there with information on this brutal murder and my message to them is simple – please come forward for Aamir, for his family and to ensure justice is done." Divisional commander for Cardiff Chief Superintendent Bob Tooby added: "A football match held yesterday evening in honour of Aamir was extremely well-attended which shows how loved, respected and missed he is by family, friends, and the wider community. "My sincere thanks to all those who have already spoken to officers – the support we are having from the community is fantastic and is very much appreciated. Please keep the information coming into the incident room." Listen to friends of Aamir talk to Amie Garner from Real Radio Wales about why they held the memorial football match in Heath park to raise money for crime stoppers. Two other men arrested on Wednesday remain in custody. Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room at Cardiff Central Police Station on 02920 571530 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
