Control orders: the terrorism allegations
The terror suspects who were the subject of the court of appeal ruling on control orders are: AF was born in 1981 in Derby and has dual Libyan and British nationality. He spent his childhood in Libya with his father and sister, while his mother returned to Britain. He was subjected to a control order in June 2006 because of alleged links to extremists in Manchester who were members of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group. He was confined to a home in Manchester, with restrictions on who he could meet and what employment he could take. He has a banking degree and had previously planned to be an accountant in the UK. AE was an imam to the Iraqi community in a town in the north of England. He is alleged to have taken part in terrorist activities and provided support to insurgents in Iraq. AN was alleged to have plotted to travel abroad to take part in terrorism and of having links to al-Qaida.
