The Bundle: all about judges - Lord Bingham, Justice Ginsburg and the CCJ

This week we were sad to hear the news that Lord Bingham had died . Read the obituary and tributes by many including Phillippe Sands QC, Louis Blom-Cooper and Afua Hirsch . Also Michael Posner, US assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights and labor, wrote about Ruth Bader Ginsburg for our weekly legal heroes series and we also had a debate about the correct name for the EU's highest court, in light of the decision regarding legal privilege and in-house lawyers . Let us know what you think about what we've covered in the comments at the end of each article, and follow us on Twitter . Perhaps we can learn something here in Europe? • On Armed forces to lose one in four lawyers , joseph1832 says The work represented soldiers and their families will be shifted to legal aid. Ultimately, it will cost more and be done worse - which is the motto of pretty much all civil service rationalisations. • On Afua Hirsch's personal tribute to Lord Bingham on her blog , gohyh says I met Lord Bingham at a booksigning in Hammick's earlier this year, and still remember the kind words he had for this wide-eyed, bushy-tailed first-year law student who'd barely read any of the famous judgments he'd written. That autographed copy of The Rule of Law will have pride of place on my bookshelf for a long time to come. Best of the web • On the IntLawGrrls blog , Diane Marie Amann writes about the 2 women judges being sworn in at the International Court of Justice • On the Ejil:Talk blog , Dapo Akande discusses the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea • On the WSJ Law blog , Nathan Koppel on the court decision to strike down the "Don't ask, don't tell' military policy on gays
