Rivers Group clean up Taff Trail

Cardiff Rivers Group have sent us some photos of their clean up operation from the weekend. The sunny weather brought Cardiffians out to Bute Park in full form, and the team of volunteers set about cleaning out rubbish along the River Taff. In total the group collected 40 bags of rubbish, four old trollies, scrap metal, piping and even a motorbike! The group formed as part of the Tidy Towns project and last weekend they donned their Keep Wales Tidy T-shirts. The waste was disposed of by Cardiff Council. The council also announced today, out of 4.8 tonnes of waste produced by the Royal Horticultural Society Show in Bute Park at the weekend, 82% was recycled (3.8 tonnes). The next group litter pick is Sunday 16 May and new volunteers are asked to contact [email protected] . What do you think about the state of rubbish in Bute Park? Leave your comments below.
