DJ leaves station over threat to criticise council for wife's parking ticket

It started with a row over a parking ticket and ended with a BBC local radio DJ losing his job. BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Gareth Evans has had his production company's contract terminated with the BBC over claims he had threatened to criticise Bassetlaw District Council on air. Evans was unhappy that his wife had been given a parking ticket after she parked her Land Rover over two bays in a car park. She was pregnant and Evans said she needed the extra room to get out of the vehicle, reports the Sheffield Telegraph . "We have taken this decision to end the contract between the BBC and Parsley Pyjamas Ltd," confirmed a BBC spokeswoman. "This means Gareth Evans will no longer be broadcasting for BBC Radio Sheffield."
