Faint praise for 'face for radio' Brown from Kinnock
Former Labour leader Neil Kinnock's appearance today on the BBC's Andrew Marr programme was meant to be an affectionate interview in which the man who first promoted Gordon Brown championed his protege. But ahead of the first TV debates in a British election, Kinnock, pictured, admitted Brown might start with a handicap. "Of course Gordon Brown has got a radio face – and nobody can get away from that." He tried to recover, saying Brown had shown "dedication, total commitment to the national interest", before opting for another unflattering adjective: "Cragginess if you like."
