Everton agree loan deal for Philippe Senderos with Arsenal

Philippe Senderos is to join Everton on loan until the end of the season. The central defender has fallen from favour at the Emirates Stadium and is desperate for first-team action to make the Swiss World Cup squad. This season, although he has two appearances for Arsenal in the Carling Cup, he has not figured in either the Premier League or Champions League for the team. The Everton manager, David Moyes, turned his attention to Senderos as he sought defensive cover in the wake of Lucas Neill's unexpected move to Galatasaray. The deal is expected to be finalised within the next 48 hours, with the Swiss likely to be in the stands when Everton take on Birmingham in the FA Cup. Senderos has played for his country 33 times and last season had a loan spell at Milan.
