Drake and Lil Wayne planning album
Drake has announced plans to record an album with Lil Wayne – just as soon as Weezy gets out of jail. Hip-hop's current golden boy recently visited his Young Money mentor at Rikers Island prison, where the pair made plans to record at least 15 songs together. "Me and [Wayne] don't like to do 12, 13 [tracks]," Drake told MTV News. "We want to do 15, 16. Yeah, Lil Wayne and Drake album." Drake is currently riding high, with three recent US top 20 singles and a debut studio album, Thank Me Later, due next week. To celebrate the bling and bubbly, Drake paid a visit to Wayne, who played a key role in the Canadian rapper's early success. Lil Wayne, 27, is serving a one-year sentence on weapons charges . "There's some things I'm excited for in my life – I'm excited to go perform certain places – but [an album with Wayne] will probably be one of the most exciting things," Drake said. "We make music on a different level. It's just so fun, so comfortable. A whole album? To think about all the things we can do." Though Wayne only appears once on Thank Me Later, he and Drake have previously collaborated on several mixtapes and a handful of singles. "He stuck his neck out there for me," Drake recalled last year. "With the [MTV Video Music awards] and ... all the songs that we put out. And the things he would say in interviews ... So I think it was only just and fair to show him that I feel the same way." Lil Wayne is expected to complete his sentence in November.
